Structural Revit Technician

Attleborough - Permanent - Full Time

Background

As a Structural Revit Technician, you will join a team involved with projects at all stages. A true multidisciplinary contractor design team working on a variety of building and civil engineering projects from £0.1m to £30m+. From education, retail, commercial, industrial, offices, medical and research facilities, to award-winning decarbonisation and residential schemes.

You will provide Structural modelling and technical detailing as part of Structural and Civil Engineering designers, working alongside our Architectural designers to deliver fully integrated design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production of design output using BIM software, eg REVIT, following industry BIM standards, protocols and procedures to deliver output compliant with BIM Level 2 standard and beyond as defined by ISO19650.
  • Production of working drawings, reports and specifications ensuring the compliance with National/International Standards, statutory requirements, and the project brief.
  • In consultation with Engineers and other designers, decide the format, scope of design data, and technical content required for the project (models, drawings, schedules, specifications etc.).
  • Support in the development of drawing/ BIM standards and QA procedures associated with BIM.
  • Translate standard/proprietary manufacturer’s details onto working drawings and models.
  • Ensure the dimensional accuracy and compliance with all relevant project drawings.
  • When necessary, visit site and carry out measured surveying to ensure dimensional compatibility between proposed and existing structures.
  • Attend site to verify compliance of site works with the design, eg reinforcement, foundations etc.
  • Mentoring, support, and supervision of Trainees/ Technicians.
  • Effectively communicate with the design team to establish programme and key dates for information issue, contributing to workload scheduling for both you and those under your mentoring / supervision.
  • Contribute to fee calculations through the accurate evaluation of detailing/modelling resource required on the project.
  • Check the output of others, including models, drawings, schedules, and specifications for compliance with design requirements and current best practice/ standards.

  • Reinforced Concrete Modelling / Detailing
  • General Construction and Engineering detailing
  • Computer Aided Design Software (AutoCAD, REVIT)
  • Requirements of ISO19650 and other standards relating to BIM and digital design

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the UK working across a wide range of construction sectors.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Support for further training and development will be provided and encouraged, including EngTech.
