Waitrose, Dorking

Demolition of existing high street branch, an office block, bookshop and community centre to accommodate a subterranean double split-level cark and two storey branch above street level for Waitrose.

CDG provided full Civil and Structural Engineering design services from concept to completion. Commencing with alternative feasibility design proposals in 2011 through to competition in 2014

The basement construction was constructed with a combination of contiguous piled walls and specialist precast concrete construction on traditional reinforced foundations.  The two-storey structure above street level comprised steel frame with composite metal deck upper floor and lightweight roof decking to roof. The challenging site topography with a 6m level difference required consideration of temporary and permanent retaining walls and sequencing of construction.
