RAF Waddington Fire Station

Carter Design Group were appointed to lead both the Architectural and Structural design of a new fire section facility at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.

The project included steel framed two-storey operational office, training support accommodation, together with fire tender appliance bays all insulated to limit aircraft operational noise.  In addition, a two-storey drill tower together with hardstanding and parking bays and associated drainage systems.

The building was designed to include structural robustness and tying required to achieve necessary Counter Terrorism Measures in accordance with all MOD/DE Standards.

In collaboration with an acoustic specialist, the building envelope was designed to reduce aircraft noise to minimise disturbance of internal spaces including classrooms, dormitories, crew rooms, and offices.
