Primark, Norwich

The project comprised complex demolition of existing shop buildings and associated infilling of basements together with extension of existing building.

CDG provided temporary works design and Structural Engineering support services.  The demolition works commenced in May 2018 with handover in December 2020.

The site was in the main shopping area of Norwich surrounded by existing adjoining buildings and pedestrian areas.  Minimal additional site area was available for storage and therefore the works needed to be methodically planned and sequenced.  The adjacent buildings were all subject to Party Wall Agreements and significant archaeological works were undertaken prior to commencement of the construction.

The existing building was temporary propped using proprietary structural support systems including backpropping through existing basement areas.
