NRP Car Park
Norwich Research Park

Serving the adjacent hospital and research park development with 795 spaces, this steel frame, concrete deck and metal clad roof solution was designed by the team from concept to completion. We used 3D modelling, interactive walk-through models and the Vertical Circulation Module design principle in response to site conditions. Our fully integrated design team developed the most cost and programme efficient solution.  The car park has been designed for future expansion, taking the total number of spaces to circa 1070.  We are currently developing these proposals for planning application in early 2024.

This modern and open plan multi-storey structure has minimal internal columns reducing vehicle damage risk, energy efficient LED lighting, natural light from all sides of the building, Electric Vehicle charging and is fully accessible for less-abled users.  The building was designed to accommodate solar PV panels across its roof area, and our client has recently completed the installation of this benefit with minimal disruption thanks to the design of the roof.

Our team would collaboratively with the contractor from the outset to co-ordinate design and buildability constraints that informed the programme and programme certainty considering site access, craneage, steel frame temporary bracing and hardstanding pavement designs in line with ground investigations undertaken by sister company Ground Technology Services.

Taking the design from early concept, we were able to inform a robust initial cost plan, including a comprehensive risk register, providing our client with absolute certainty over project risks and opportunities.

We utilised our expertise to select cost effective materials with reduced environmental impact, considering both operational and embodied carbon.
